Farewell Port Angeles, it's been swell. Due to a job situation I am moving away from the area, the blog will stay up as an archive.

What a gorgeous shot, what a view. Looks like a heavenly place to me.

Would have been nice to help the economy of this area, not to mention clean hydropower by leaving these dams in place and developing the area with resorts and recreation on the reservoir. What a waste.

It is a pretty photo. Why in the world would they want to lose that beautiful reservoir? It's just going to be another valley when they remove the dams. Is it too late to save them?

This has been in the works for some time, if you'd like more info click here: http://www.nps.gov/olym/naturescience/elwha-ecosystem-restoration.htm

Looks like it's just a feel-good "eco" thing with no sound science behind it.
What if you need that reservoir for drinking water in dry years? Flood control? What happens when you get a really heavy snowpack in that drainage basin and an extreme event warm Pineapple Express-type rainstorm on top of it? Are there roads and homes below this dam that could be in danger?
What about your drinking water? I hope this is not the river that provides your drinking water. Is your treatment facility out of the flood zone at a much higher elevation from the river?
To lose that valuable resource of clean hydropower is totally irresponsible in this time of global warming!
