Farewell Port Angeles, it's been swell. Due to a job situation I am moving away from the area, the blog will stay up as an archive.

The city wants all pedestrians to be safe, so they came up with this NEAT idea. They thought people would like to wave a huge fluorescent orange flag while crossing the street.

I thought this must be a joke until I enlarged the picture.

Tell me it is an elaborate hoax.

Such a scheme wouldn't last two minutes here. Hooligans would be pinch the flags and they'd end up all over the place.

Perhaps I'm too much of an old cynic.

It should be a joke! I used to live in the Bay Area, and when they tried it there all of the flags disappeared. We'll see how long this lasts...

I've heard of this. Well, it is a good idea just not very realistic.

Is traffic even that heavy in Port Angeles?

Only during the rush hour...the downtown is made up of 2 one-way streets. So it can get backed up.
